Bikram Yoga – A set sequence of 26 postures performed twice in a heated room, typically around 105°F with 40% humidity.
Yin Yoga – A slow, deeper practice focusing on connective tissues such as tendons, ligaments and fascia. Postures are generally held for 45 seconds to 5 minutes, using gravity and the breath to encourage stillness and relaxation.

A few simple things help everyone enjoy their practice:
Arrive in good time so you can settle before class begins.
Remove shoes and socks to avoid slipping on your mat.
Leave shoes, bags and coats outside the yoga studio.
Avoid smoking before class and strong perfumes, as scents can affect others.
Turn your phone off or onto silent and leave it to one side.
Use the bathroom before class to minimise interruptions.
Please stay for Savasana and respect this final period of relaxation.
If you feel unwell or the class isn't right for you, you can leave before Savasana. If you find Savasana difficult, you can sit up or lie on your side.
You're very welcome. If you're feeling nervous, remember that yoga isn't about being flexible or keeping up with everyone else.
Listen to and trust your body, work at your own pace and avoid comparing yourself with others.
Focus on your breath and allow it to remain slow and controlled. If your mind wanders, gently return your attention to your breathing.
You can rest at any time in Child's Pose, a seated position or a reclined position. Simply reconnect with your breath and return to the movement when you're ready.
As the saying goes: “Yoga is not about touching your toes, it’s about what you learn on the way down.”

SUP stands for Stand-Up Paddleboarding (also sometimes referred to as Stand-Up Paddle Surfing).
Stand-Up Paddleboarding involves standing on a large, stable board and using a paddle to move across the water.
SUP boards are longer, wider and more buoyant than traditional surfboards, making them easier to balance on. SUP is a great way to get active, improve core stability and enjoy being out on the water.
Flat-water SUP can provide a good workout and is also a wonderful way to enjoy the water when the surf is flat.
SUP Yoga combines the benefits of yoga with being out on the water and connecting with nature.
Benefits may include:
Increased relaxation, flexibility, muscle strength and energy
Improved balance, posture, coordination and endurance
Increased body strength, confidence and self-esteem
Improved circulation, lung capacity, digestion and sleep
Reduced stress, anxiety, blood pressure and emotional frustration
Encouragement of healthy habits and positive thinking
Greater involvement in your own healing
A sense of tranquillity and positive wellbeing
Greater creativity, clarity of thought and concentration
Balance between body, mind and soul
The opportunity to enjoy the outdoors and connect with nature physically, emotionally and spiritually

What is holistic?
A Holistic Therapy is a therapy..... "which uses an approach to patient care in which the physical, mental and social factors in the patient's condition are taken into account, rather than just the diagnosed disease." Oxford Concise Medical Dictionary.
Holistic therapies deal with the 'whole' person. They treat the body as a whole and integrated system, not a collection of isolated parts. Medicine can only truly be holistic if it acknowledges the social and cultural context in which the 'illness' and the desired healing take place. It therefore needs to look at the patterns of thought, behaviour, work and culture that were the sources of the 'disease' in the first place. Emphasis is placed on helping people to understand and to take responsibility for themselves, on prevention of disease and promotion of a healthy lifestyle. The person who is ill is also the healer. Aid can be sought from 'experts' but the responsibility for healing and health lies within the person who wants to be well.
What are the benefits of Holistic Therapies?
There are lots of wonderful benefits to having a holistic treatment, and of course it depends on the treatment you choose. However, these are just some of the benefits you may receive:
Improved blood circulation and lymphatic drainage
Stimulation of immune system, nervous system and toxin elimination
Reduced stress, tension and anxiety
Increased relaxation and energy levels
Increased confidence, self-esteem and self-worth
A sense of tranquillity, calmness and positive well being
Greater creativity, clarity of thought and concentration
Balance of mind, body and soul
In addition, depending on the treatment you have received you may also benefit from the following:
Improved skin, muscle tone, metabolism, digestive system
Reduction in muscle fatigue, stiffness, sports injuries, fluid retention, arthritis, hormonal problems, blood pressure
Relief from headaches, insomnia, ear, eye and nose conditions, coughs/ colds
How can I book and pay for my treatment?
Please contact me to arrange your treatment. Once your appointment has been confirmed, I’ll send you a secure payment link, or you can pay by BACS. Your appointment will be secured once payment has been received.
I would like to buy a treatment as a special gift for a friend. Can I purchase a Gift Voucher?
Absolutely! You can purchase Gift Vouchers for friends and family by either choosing a specific item, or a set price.
Is there anything I should do before my treatment?
Please ensure that your last meal was at least 2-hours before your treatment. If you are taking any medication that you may need before, during or after your treatment, please bring this with you. Please complete a Health Questionnaire and kindly pay for your treatment in advance via BACS, or credit card via a secure payment link.
Is there parking at your treatment room at Merrifield House, Aveton Gifford, Kingsbridge?
Yes, there is plenty of free parking at Merrifield House at the rear of the property.
What will happen during my first appointment?
At your first appointment, we will run through your pre-completed Health Questionnaire before we start the treatment. This will allow me to understand a little more about you, your current health situation and what you would like to achieve from your treatment/s. The more information you can give me, the better I can tailor the treatment to your individual needs. Please be assured everything we discuss is confidential.
How long will my session last?
An approximate time for all sessions are listed on the Treatments page on my website. Please allow an extra few minutes for your first treatment; this is so that we can run through pre-completed Health Questionnaire prior to your treatment.
What should I do if I have special health considerations?
If you have any health conditions you think may affect your treatment, please mention this when making your booking. In some cases, a doctors’ referral note may be required; in some cases, it might be possible to adapt your treatment; in other cases, it might be necessary to recommend an alternative treatment. However, it may not affect your treatment at all. In particular, please advise if you are: pregnant or lactating; have an injury, allergy or infectious disease; are taking medication; have recently had surgery, stroke, heart attack; have a history of thrombosis, embolism or phlebitis; have cancer, diabetes, high/low blood pressure, arthritis, paralysis, epilepsy, haemophilia or an undiagnosed condition. If you think you may need medication, for conditions such as asthma, angina or diabetes before, during or after your treatment, please remember to bring these with you. If you have experienced a reaction after a previous treatment, please let me know.
I have sensitive skin. Can I still have a treatment?
Yes. If you have any health concerns, it is possible to do a skin patch test 24 hrs before your treatment. As long as, there are no adverse reactions then it will be OK to continue with a treatment.
Can I still receive a treatment if I am pregnant, post-natal or trying to conceive?
Yes. Some treatments can be tailored to support fertility, pregnancy and postpartum. If you have recently given birth, please wait for a minimum of 6 weeks, before booking a treatment. Please see my blog post called - Supporting pregnancy; before, during and after - and contact me to discuss how we can create a unique and safe treatment plan just for you.
How may I feel during my treatment?
During your treatment you may feel calm, peaceful and totally relaxed. It is not uncommon for clients to feel sleepy or a little emotional. All these things are perfectly normal.
What can I expect after my treatment?
After your treatment you may feel relaxed yet refreshingly energized. Certain aspects of your life may appear clearer and your mind more focused. Your blood circulation and lymphatic drainage may be increased, promoting a feeling of general well-being. You may also experience a ‘Healing Response’.
I have heard about ‘The Healing Response’ but I am unsure exactly what this is. What is this and will it affect me?
The 'Healing Response' is a where you might feel slightly worse before feeling better, after receiving your treatment. For example, you may feel achy or tired, get a headache, feel nauseous or thirsty, experience a little dizziness, have hot & cold flushes, feel emotional, have a runny nose, experience more frequent urination or break out in spots. This is part of the detoxification process whilst your body is rebalancing and cleansing itself and it is perfectly normal for these symptoms to last up to 3 days. However, because we are all different, you may or may not experience this. To reduce the likelihood of feeling such symptoms, please follow the 24-hr after care advice below.
What can I do after my treatment to ensure I receive maximum benefit?
For 24-hrs after your treatment please remember to:
Drink plenty of water or herbal teas
Rest or sleep if necessary
Eat light meals
Keep caffeine, tea, fizzy drinks, alcohol, smoking to a minimum
Do not carry heavy bags or loads
Avoid stressful situations and long-distance driving
Resist the temptation to suppress any aches and pains with medication
Try a hot bath, gentle stretching or breathing exercises to further aid relaxation (no bath if Aroma)
Allow the oils to absorb into your skin (Aroma)
Avoid direct sunlight or heat treatment (certain oils within Aroma, you will be advised if this is relevant)
Keep your ears clean and warm, and avoid swimming (ear candles)
What is the minimum age to receive a treatment?
Many treatments can be received by children with wonderful results. However, if you are under 16 years old, you must be accompanied by a parent or guardian and a parental consent form must be completed before the treatment can be carried out.
I am unable to travel to your treatment room at Merrifield House, Aveton Gifford, Kingsbridge. Do you offer mobile or home visits?
Sadly, I no longer offer mobile appointments. If you are able to travel to Merrifield House, there is plenty of free parking, beautiful views, complimentary Merrifield water and a beautiful healing space once here.
What happens if I am late for my appointment?
Being late may reduce the time available for your treatment thus reducing its effectiveness and your total enjoyment. Please telephone 07941 508 004 if you think you may be running late.
What should I do if I have booked a Holistic Treatment and I wish to cancel my appointment?
If you have booked a Holistic Treatment and can no longer attend, please see my Refund Policy.
