Family Forage and Yoga Camp Weekend

Imagine spending a weekend in the wild and spectacular South Hams Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, discovering, exploring, tasting and sharing wild foods from sea and shore. Camping as a community at Beryl’s camp site – a magical Devon farm, off winding lanes leading to the sea.

We will start the day with family yoga then venture out, basket in hand, to find and gather an amazing harvest of wild foods from woodland, hedgerow and seashore.

There will be plenty of time to walk, relax, star gaze; and for adults and children alike to play, relax and recharge their body, mind and spirit in the magical great Devon outdoors. Visits from a hula hooping expert and face painter will add to the magic and fun. On Saturday evening, we will prepare, cook and share a meal rich in wild foods; seaweeds, herbs, greens and flowers – and you will find out how to use and preserve nature’s bounty; a storehouse of nutrients and flavour.

What can you expect:

  • Relax, recharge and release the stresses of every-day life.
  • Experience quality family time with your loved ones whilst you all enjoy time away from the digital world.
  • Learn ancient and almost forgotten skills, identifying and using a wide variety of wild plants.
  • Learn how to gather, use and preserve your finds and take some home.
  • For you and your children to make new friends, to explore and experience fabulous and unforgettable landscapes and have some serious fun.
  • For your children to go free range, screen free (beware they and you might get muddy too!) as you spend a weekend in the wild with your family on Beryl’s gorgeous family farm (dogs welcome too!)

Sample daily schedule:

  • Saturday – Family yoga, face painting, family foraging, lunch, wild food feast, outdoor cinema, star gazing
  • Sunday – Family hula hoop, face painting, family foraging, lunch

Food and drink:

Please bring your own food and drinks for breakfasts, picnic lunches and mid-day snacks. We will cook up a supper from the bounties that we gather during the day, for our Wild Food Feast on Saturday night. We kindly request that each family bring along a share dish and some rustic bread to contribute to the Saturday night Wild Food Feast.
