5 Yoga poses you can do on your desk chair or sofa

Sitting at your desk chair all day, driving long distances, or being stuck at home during COVID-19 lockdown, can be a strain on your body, and can lead to stiffness, aches, and pains.

Your neck might have cricks in it and your arms might be strained, too.

However by simply sitting at your desk, or on a sofa you CAN do some things that helps your body and mind — yes, yoga poses — these poses can be used safely at home either at the end of a stressful working day, after a long car journey, and even during self-isolation to keep the body moving.

All that you’re doing is changing the setup, and removing most of the action in the hips. For example, you can modify standing pose in order to strengthen the shoulders, biceps, triceps and upper back muscles. You can also do desk/ sofa yoga poses with minimal disruption, and that includes a cat-cow stretch to help relieve tension from the spine.

And guess what? You can even practise really engaging poses such as down dog with some small modifications.

Invite a sense of space and freedom into your body with 5 simple stretches to help find a sense of space and freedom for your mind.
